Women's Tennis Headed To Cary For ITA All-American Championships
September 20, 2024 | Women's Tennis
The University of North Carolina women's tennis team is set to embark on the next step of its 2024 fall schedule. As the first national championship of the fall college tennis season, the 2024 ITA Women's All-American Championships are nearly here as the nation's top players will converge in Cary this weekend.
As one of the most storied championships on the college tennis calendar, the ITA All-American Championships will hold even more prestige this year as they serve as one of four qualifying pathways for the NCAA Division I Individual Championships, which will now be played in the fall season from November 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
The 2024 event marks the third consecutive year that the women will hold their championship in Cary. For the first 34 years of the ITA Women's All-American Championships, the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., hosted the nation's top Division I women's players to compete in the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.
The Tar Heels have a history of success at the ITA Women's All-American Championships. In 2013, Jamie Loeb won the singles championship, and in 2022 Fiona Crawley did the same. In 2016, the team of Hayley Carter and Jessie Aney won the doubles championship.
DRAW SIZE
• Singles: Pre-Qualifying (128), Qualifying (64), Main Draw (64). From this, 10 singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists).
• Doubles: Pre-Qualifying (32), Qualifying (32), Main Draw (32). Four doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists).
