Tar Heels Wrap Up Kitty Harrison Invitational With More Wins
September 15, 2024 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—North Carolina players won two of three doubles matches and three of four singles opportunities on the final day of the 2024 Kitty Harrison Invitational at the Chewning Tennis Center on Sunday in Chapel Hill.
Carson Tanguilig and Susanna Maltby both won their matches in straight sets. Tatum Evans came from behind to top Noemi Oliveras of Florida in a back-and-forth match that eventually went to a third-set tiebreaker, winning 6-7 (4), 7-5, 1-0 (10).
In doubles action, Tanguilig and Maltby topped Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee of Florida 7-6 (2). Evans and Thea Rabman teamed to beat Oliveras and Qavia Lopez of Florida 6-1.
Other teams in action on Sunday included Florida, Purdue, Penn State, Duke, Old Dominion, Virginia and Charlote.
Unpredictable weather in the area forced the action to move back and forth from outside and inside during the day.
