Volleyball Closes Regular Season Out With Sweep Over Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC volleyball team (22-7, 14-6 ACC) wrapped up its regular season with a 3-0 win at Clemson (11-20, 3-17 ACC) on Friday night.
Clemson opened the first set with a 4-0 run. The Tar Heels immediately responded with a 4-0 run of their own to tie things up. The Tigers held a slim 15-14 lead but a 6-0 UNC run made it 20-15 in favor of Carolina. The Tar Heels ended the first set on a 11-3 run to take it 25-18. Emani' Foster had five kills, Jackie Taylor and Mabrey Shaffmaster had two blocks each.
The second set opened with fast for UNC, racing out to a 4-0 lead. After Clemson cut the lead to 13-10, Carolina gave itself some distance with a 4-0 run to make it 17-10. Just like the first set, the Tar Heels won the set 25-18. It was a balanced attack with six different players registering multiple kills.
Quick starts were the story of the match. UNC opened the third with a 5-0 run. Clemson would get it to 8-4 but wouldn't get any closer than that. For the second consecutive match Taylor played the role of closer, racking up four kills in the final set. The Tar Heels went on to take the set 25-19 en route to a sweep.
