CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina men's soccer midfielder Sam Williams has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.Â
Additionally, Williams has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist, released in December.Â
The 2024 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. They must also have competed in 90 percent of their team's matches or started in at least two-thirds of all contests this season.
Williams, a junior midfielder for the Tar Heels, earned All-ACC honors for the third consecutive season last week. The Tenafly, N.J. product has started all 17 matches for the Tar Heels this fall, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists. Williams has played the full 90 for Carolina in 13 matches this season, logging 1,481 minutes.
The Tar Heels host Furman on Thursday at 5 PM, in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Soccer Championship. For tickets to Thursday's match, click here.Â
