Volleyball Wins In Four At Notre Dame
November 15, 2024 | Volleyball
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Carolina volleyball team (19-5, 11-4 ACC) picked up a big win over Notre Dame (9-16, 2-13 ACC) in four sets (25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19) on Friday night at Purcell Pavilion.
The first set opened back and forth but after a 4-0 Tar Heels run gave them a 7-4 lead, they never looked back. The Irish would tie things up but never took the lead again in the frame and after a 5-0 UNC run made it 22-16, it was too much for Notre Dame to overcome.
After falling in the second set, Carolina raced out to a 8-3 lead in the third. The Fighting Irish would climb back and eventually take a 16-14 lead themselves, but an 8-3 run gave the Tar Heels a 22-19 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
The fourth set opened much like the first but after a kill from Emani' Foster and back-to-back aces from Erin Curtis, who made her first career start, Carolina had a 10-6 lead that would force a Notre Dame timeout. After the Irish cut the lead to just won, the Tar Heels used a 5-1 run to extend the lead back to five. From then on, the closest it would get would be three and the Tar Heels went on to take the fourth set to win the match 3-1.
