Carolina Sweeps Season Series Against Duke

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Carolina volleyball team dispatched the Duke Blue Devils in straight sets (25-19, 25-21, 25-16) Friday in Carmichael Arena. The Tar Heels swept the season series winning eight of the last ten matches.
More than 4,000 fans came to Carmichael Arena to root on the surging volleyball team, who are now riding an 8-game winning streak remaining undefeated at home (8-0).
North Carolina won six straight sets going back to Wednesday's sweep in Durham. Â

The Tar Heels (12-1, 4-0 ACC) outhit Duke (6-9, 2-2 ACC), .295-.161 in the match, as Emani' Foster (.500) and Chelsea Thorpe (.556) lead the offensive charge.Â
Sophomore Zoe Behrendt posted a double-double for the second time this season, contributing 19 assists and ten digs.
Carolina jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the first set and never allowed a Blue Devil comeback, winning the set 25-19.
The Tar Heels scored four straight points when they were down by three in the second set to take the lead and hold it for the rest of the match, winning 25-21.

Senior Mabrey Shaffmaster dominated early in the third, scoring five of the first six points. The Heels ran up the score to 11-2 before ultimately winning 25-16
The Tar Heels will hit the road to face North Carolina State University at Reynolds Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7pm in Raleigh.
