Carolina Blanks Oregon; Faces Kentucky In Championship Match

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The top-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team (5-0), defeated the Oregon Ducks (1-0) 4-0 on Friday at UNC's Cone-Kenfield Indoor Center. With the win, Carolina advances to Saturday's ITA Kickoff Weekend championship match.
In doubles action, the top-ranked duo of Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty quickly gave Carolina the doubles point advantage after winning 6-0. Shortly afterwards, the No. 11 ranked tandem of Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran won 6-2 to clinch the doubles point for North Carolina.
All six Tar Heels began singles play with a first set victory. Then, within a few moments of one another, Elizabeth Scotty, Anika Yarlagadda and Abbey Forbes won their matches to give Carolina a 4-0 first round victory.
