DURHAM, N.C.—The University of North Carolina's track and field teams wrapped up a wet Duke Invitational on Saturday, taking four second-place finishes and a third in another good day by both the men's and women's teams.Â
As was the case on Friday on day two of the Duke Invitational, Saturday's weather included a steady rain throughout the day's events.
On Saturday, a balanced group including Isabel Maletich, Kayla Hunt, Craig Saddler II and the women's 4x400 relay team led the Tar Heels.
Saturday's Notables:
• Tar Heel women placed second in three events: the 100m, triple jump and 4x400.
• Top men's finishes included a second, a third and a fourth.
• Kayla Hunt took second place in the 100 meters in 11.95 seconds.
• Isabel Maletich was second in the women's triple jump at 39-8.50 (12.10m).
• The women's 4x400 team of Jocelyn Johnson, Brianna White, Alyssa Hernandez and Ella Auderset finished second in 3:55.87.
• Freshman Blaise Atkinson finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.44 seconds.
• Craig Saddler II grabbed second place in the 400-meter hurdles in 52.84.
• Spencer Williams was third in the men's shot put with a throw of 54-2.75 (16.53m).
The Tar Heels will return to action next weekend on Friday and Saturday in Gainesville, Fla., at the Tom Jones Memorial, hosted by the University of Florida.
