Softball Shutout At Virginia, 3-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Carolina softball team (13-23, 3-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) was shutout in game one of its three-game series at Virginia on Friday afternoon, 3-0.
The Tar Heels tallied just three hits in the game, one each from Skyler Brooks, Kiersten Licea and Bri Stubbs. Despite having success getting on base, Carolina left eight runners stranded in the game.
All three of the Cavaliers runs came in the bottom of the fourth, scoring first on a sacrifice fly, then an RBI double before a Tar Heel error plated the final run of the inning.
Kenna Raye Dark (3-5) took the loss in the circle, allowing five hits, three runs, two earned, with a pair of strikeouts. Carlie Myrtle allowed just one hit in her 2.1 innings of relief to close out the game.
The Tar Heels will look to even the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
