Softball Walked Off By Virginia, 1-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – For the second game in a row, the Carolina softball team (13-24, 3-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) was shutout, falling to Virginia, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Palmer Park.
The Cavaliers earned the victory in walk-off fashion, hitting a RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the series win.
The Saturday matchup was a pitchers' duel between the Heels and the Hoos, with Carolina tallying three hits as a team to five from Virginia's squad.
Pitchers from both teams threw complete games, with Jenny Bressler striking out 10 Tar Heels. Despite the loss, Lilli Backes (6-12) tossed a gem, allowing just one earned run and five hits in seven innings with four strikeouts.
With her single in the first inning, Abby Settlemyre tallied career hit No. 100.
The Tar Heels will look to take game three of the series tomorrow at 4 p.m. on the ACC Network.
