Softball Travels To Virginia For Three-Game ACC Series

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the second weekend in a row, the Carolina softball team (13-22, 3-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) hits the road for a conference matchup. The Tar Heels travel to Charlottesville for a three-game series with Virginia from March 31-April 2.
Carolina will play the Cavaliers in Palmer Park at 2 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. The first two games of the series will be available on ACCNX, while the series finale will be broadcasted on the ACC Network.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Overall: Carolina leads the series 94-36-1
In Chapel Hill: Carolina leads 45-15
In Charlottesville: Carolina leads 32-12-1
Neutral Site: Carolina leads 17-9
Virginia is 23-10 overall on the season and 4-5 in ACC play. The Cavaliers are coming off of a sweep at Pittsburgh last weekend, which included a run-rule victory. Kelly Ayey leads the team with a .353 batting average while Jamie Hylton has recorded a team-best 33 hits, eight home runs, 22 RBIs, three triples and 16 walks.
In the circle, Eden Bigham leads Virginia with a 1.27 ERA in 71.2 innings pitched with a record of 8-3. She has tallied 82 strikeouts on the season, allowing just 13 earned runs and two home runs. As a team, the Cavaliers rank second in the ACC in pitching (1.84 ERA), fourth in fielding (.975 fielding percentage) and seventh in batting (.280 team batting average).
