The 12th-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team will host Elon on Sunday February 12 at 1 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Phoenix are 2-2 this season with wins over NC Central and Campbell.
The Tar Heels (5-2) have had a well-deserved week off after a frenetic pace to their early-season schedule. Carolina has played seven matches in the first month of the season, including six home matches and three against ITA-ranked opponents in No. 9 South Carolina, No. 13 Harvard and No. 3 TCU. In addition, Carolina also hosted the Allen Morris Invitational just prior to the start of the dual match season.
"It's been a crazy start to the season, so it's been nice to get a week off," graduate student Brian Cernoch said after last Sunday's match against TCU. "Playing Elon on Sunday will be a good test for us as we head into the indoor national championships."
Indeed, the Tar Heels will return to action after Sunday's match by traveling to Chicago for the ITA Indoor National Team Championship against 15 other top programs. Carolina won the ITA indoor national title in both 2016 and 2021.
