No. 23 Wrestling Heads West For Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational

LAS VEGAS, NEV. - The No. 23-ranked North Carolina wrestling program travels west this weekend, participating in the 2023 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Big Weekend Ahead
• The Tar Heels are one of 36 programs heading to Las Vegas this weekend for the event.
• Carolina joins Atlantic Coast Conference opponents NC State and Virginia Tech in the two-day clash.
• In total, 15 programs ranked in this week's NWCA Coaches Poll will be in attendance.

Pre-Tournament Seeding
• On Tuesday, the tournament announced it's pre-tournament seeding, which was highlighted by five Carolina wrestlers:
- 125: Spencer Moore: 15-seed
- 133: Caden McCrary: 10-seed
- 141: Lachlan McNeil: 1-seed
- 184: Gavin Kane: 8-seed
- 197: Max Shaw: 9-seed

Last Time Out
• On Nov. 19, the Tar Heels split its road duals, against Central Michigan (W, 25-10) and Illinois (L, 20-13).
• To begin the day against Central Michigan, Carolina defeated the Chippewas behind four decisions, two major decisions and one technical fall.
• Against the host Fighting Illini, Carolina collected decisions from Moore (125), Kane (184) and Shaw (197), with a major decision courtesy of McNeil (141).
• That same weekend, the tandem of Omuary Alvarez and Marcus Murabito produced runner-up finishes for the Tar Heels at the Life U Open, placing seven in the event.
