No. 22 Wrestling Splits Sunday Duals At Illinois

CHAMPAIGN, ILL. – The 22nd-ranked North Carolina wrestling program split its duals on Sunday, defeating Central Michigan (25-10), before falling to host Illinois (20-13).
To begin the day against Central Michigan, Carolina defeated the Chippewas behind four decisions, two major decisions and one technical fall.
The Tar Heels won the first matches of the day, with decisions from Spencer Moore (125), Caden McCrary (133) and Jayden Scott (149), with Lachlan McNeil (141) cruising to a technical fall.
Carolina would sweep the final three bouts of the dual, with major decisions from Gavin Kane (184) and Cade Lautt (285), and Max Shaw (197) ending victorious by decision.
Against the host Fighting Illini, Carolina collected decisions from Moore (125), Kane (184) and Shaw (197), with a major decision courtesy of McNeil (141).
