Penn Tops Wrestling In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The No. 27-ranked Penn Quakers defended The Palestra Saturday evening, defeating No. 25 North Carolina (2-6) 19-17 in non-conference action.
While squaring off with the Quakers, the Tar Heels earned decisions at 125, 165 and 184-pounds, with major decisions coming at 141 and 157-pounds.
With the match starting at 165-pounds, Joey Mazzara collected the first of four ranked victories for UNC in the matchup, defeating No. 29 Lucas Revano by decision, 5-4. After Gavin Kane's 7-3 decision at 184, Jack Wagner was victorious over No. 31 Ryan Miller. A 12-1 major decision for No. 21 Lachlan McNeil continued his excellent weekend in Pennsylvania, as No. 4 Austin O'Connor would defeat No. 15 Anthony Artalona by major decision, 13-5, to close out the dual with the Quakers.
The Tar Heels return to the mat next weekend, heading north to battle Harvard and Brown in the final two tuneups before Atlantic Coast Conference action.
