Gymnastics Travels To Rutgers For Saturday Quad Meet

CHAPEL HILL – The Carolina gymnastics team is hitting the road for the first time this season, heading north for a quad-meet at Rutgers with NC State and New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

Meet coverage gets underway live at 1 p.m. ET from Jersey Mike's Arena in New Brunswick, N.J.:
Carolina opened the 2022 season on Jan. 7 with a 195.70 team score, its highest season-opening score in program history, in front of a program-record 4,125 fans in Carmichael Arena.
 
Freshman Lali Dekanoidze took home her first career all-around title with a 39.325, the second-best season-opening all-around total in program history. All three of Carolina's freshmen in the lineup earned individual event titles: Dekanodize and Isabelle Schaefer each took a share of the uneven bars title (9.875), while Julia Knower won on beam (9.925).
 
The meet was also head coach Danna Durante's first at the helm of the Tar Heels.
 
Award Winner:
Lali Dekanoidze earned the first honor of her collegiate career on Wednesday when she was named the East Atlantic Gymnast League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week.
