CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Head coach Danna Durante and Carolina gymnastics released the 2027 competition schedule Friday morning. The competitive slate features nine top 25 opponents, four home meets and two premier quad meet events.
The Tar Heels will open the season on the national stage at the Sprouts College Quad on Jan. 10. Carolina will face Clemson, Georgia and Utah in Greenville, S.C., during session two of the event with streaming on ESPN.
UNC will follow with four consecutive ACC road meets. In their first dual meet of the season, the Tar Heels will head to Pittsburgh to take on the Pitt Panthers.
The team will continue their road swing Jan. 22 against the defending ACC champions, Clemson. The meet will mark the second of three meetings between the Tar Heels and Tigers during the regular season.
To close out January, Carolina will head west to compete against Stanford in Maples Pavilion.
To round out their stint of away meets, the Tar Heels will head down the road to Raleigh Feb. 5 to take on NC State. The meet is the first of the home/away series against the Wolfpack this season. Just a week later, Carolina will host their home opener against NC State on Feb. 12.
UNC will hit the road for another premier event, Elevate the Stage. The Tar Heels are set to face Alabama, Auburn and Illinois in their session of the event. Elevate the Stage will be held in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 14.
Yet again, the Tar Heels will clash with another top-ranked opponent from last year. Carolina will travel to Gainesville to take on Florida Feb. 19 in a dual meet. Last year, UNC opened the season at the Florida Quad where they came in second behind the Gators.
Carolina will return to Carmichael Arena and ACC action as they host Cal Feb. 28. The dual meet begins a brief homestand for the Tar Heels.
UNC will continue with home competitions as they host two dual meets against TWU and Clemson in early March. The meet against Clemson will mark the team's last competition in Carmichael Arena for the season.
Postseason gymnastics will commence March 20 at the ACC Championship. Carolina finished fifth at last year's championship.
The NCAA Gymnastics Championships will start with regionals March 31-April 4. Those teams or individuals that qualify will then head to the NCAA National Championships on April 15 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Carolina will look to build off one of their most successful seasons in program history. The Tar Heels finished last season ranked No. 20, marking the team's highest end-of-season ranking since 2006. UNC boasted one NCAA Championships qualifier and three All-ACC gymnasts.
