Tar Heels Head South for Miami and FSU Matches

CHAPEL HILL – The Carolina volleyball team is heading to Florida this weekend for a pair of ACC road matches. First, the Heels travel to Miami for an 8 p.m. Friday matchup with the Hurricanes (10-2, 1-1 ACC), before flying north to Tallahassee to take on FSU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Fans can watch Friday's match with Miami on the ACC Network and Sunday's matchup with the Noles on ACCNX.

Carolina (11-2, 0-2 ACC) is coming off a 0-2 weekend at home, falling 3-1 to both No. 4 Pitt on Sep. 24 and Virginia on Sep. 26, the first losses of the season for the Tar Heels. Freshman Mabrey Shaffmaster led the team with a combined 32 kills between the two matches, while Skyy Howard contributed nine blocks. Carolina had a .202 attacking clip on the weekend but committed a combined 14 errors from the service line.
The Tontai Connection
There will be a familiar face on the opposing side of the net versus the Hurricanes. Aristea Tontai, who played three years at Carolina, is a now a graduate student at Miami. The 6-4 middle blocker from Greece led Carolina in hitting percentage, aces, and total blocks last season.
Tontai has played in 11 sets for the Hurricanes this season, recording 8 block assists with 5 block solos and 15 kills.
