CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina field hockey team will play two home games this weekend while welcoming more than two dozen former players back to Chapel Hill for Alumni Weekend. The Tar Heels open Atlantic Coast Conference play on Friday at 4 p.m. with a matchup against fifth-ranked Boston College then take on No. 15 UConn on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Admission is free to both games at Karen Shelton Stadium.
The UNC-BC matchup will air live on the ACC's Regional Sports Networks. For details on where to find the game, click here. In areas not covered by one of the RSN affiliates, the game will air at ESPN.com/watch.
Sunday's game against UConn will air on ACC Network Extra.
The Tar Heels come into the weekend – their second in a row at home after starting the fall with three weekends on the road – ranked seventh nationally and with a 4-3 record. They're the last team in the league to open ACC play, after the other six started conference action last weekend, and are opening against Boston College for the first time in program history.
Carolina leads the series with BC 21-2. The teams' last meeting came in November of 2020 in the ACC Tournament, played in Chapel Hill. UNC won 4-0 in a quarterfinals matchup to give Tar Heel coach Karen Shelton the 700th win of her career.

UNC last met Connecticut during the 2018 season in a neutral-site game played at Boston College's field in Newton, Mass. Carolina won that game 2-1 en route to a 23-0 season.
After this weekend, the Tar Heels hit the road again to play at Syracuse next Friday (Oct. 1) and at Albany on Oct. 3.
