Record Number of UNC Qualifiers Headed For NCAA Preliminaries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Carolina will travel to the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminaries this week with the highest number of qualifiers in program history. A total of 38 individuals and three relay teams will represent UNC at the meet, which runs Wednesday to Saturday at Hodges Stadium.
The Carolina men's team will send a program-best 24 individuals and two relays, a significant jump from the previous high of 16 qualifiers in 2011. The Tar Heels have the largest contingent of qualifiers among all East Region men's teams and are tied for fifth-most nationally. UNC will have entries in 15 of 20 events.
The Carolina women will have 14 individuals and one relay competing, with entries in 11 events.
The 41 total Tar Heel entries marks the most in program history, surpassing the previous high of 32 in 2015.
