ATLANTA - No. 1 North Carolina remained unbeaten in Atlantic Coast Conference play with a 6-1 victory over No. 13 Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon.
North Carolina (15-0, 6-0 ACC) extended its school record to 33-straight dual match wins with the victory over the Yellow Jackets, who fall to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the league.
UNC won the doubles point to edge out to an early 1-0 lead. Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran clinched with a win on court two.
Georgia Tech earned its lone point with a win by No. 13 Kenya Jones pinning No. 4 Sara Daavettila with her first singles loss of 2021.
From that point on the Tar Heels won the remaining five matches. No. 49 Makenna Jones got the all important fourth point to secure the road win.
Carolina returns home to host non-league foe William & Mary on Wednesday, before welcoming Duke to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on Friday.
