Women's Tennis Eases Past Buckeyes At ITA Indoors

STILLWATER, Oklahoma - The defending champion and top ranked North Carolina women's tennis team took another step closer to a fifth ITA Indoor National Team Championship with a 4-0 victory over No. 9 Ohio State Friday morning in a quarterfinal match from Oklahoma State's Greenwood Tennis Center.
North Carolina (5-0) will player the winner of the Georgia Tech-Pepperdine match in a semifinal bout on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
Carolina reconfigured its doubles lineup after losing the opening point in consecutive matches against Ole Miss and Georgia in recent weeks. Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran picked up a dominating 6-2 win over Irina Cantos Siemers and Lucia Marzal on court three. The Buckeyes took court one to knot the doubles at 1-1.
No. 45 Cameron Morra and Elizabeth Scotty prevailed on court two, 6-3, over Luna Dormet and Lisa Hofbauer to give the Tar Heels the 1-0 lead.
No. 4 Sara Daavettila, the 2018 and 2020 Most Outstanding Player at ITA Indoors, made it 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0, win over Kolie Allen on court two. The Williamston, Michigan, native improved her singles record to 14-0 in this competition going back to her 2017 freshman season.
No. 3 Alexa Graham quickly increased the lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2, victory over No. 78 Irina Cantos Siemers. Both Daavettila and Graham have won exactly 132 career singles matches, tied for the third most in program history.
No. 79 Elizabeth Scotty ended the match with a 6-4, 6-3, win over Lisa Hofbauer on court four.
