CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With its lowest scoring output of the season, North Carolina fell to Florida State at home Thursday evening, 61-51 in an Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball matchup at Carmichael Arena.

The Tar Heels are now 8-8 overall and 3-8 in ACC play after their third loss in a row. FSU improved to 6-4 (5-4).

Graduate student guard Stephanie Watts led UNC with 11 points off the bench. Senior center Janelle Bailey turned in a double-double, the 41^st of her career, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Tar Heels got solid contributions off the bench, with seven points each from sophomore Ariel Young and freshmen Kennedy Todd-Williams and Alexandra Zelaya. For both Young and Zelaya, the scoring total was a career high in ACC play.

Bianca Jackson led Florida State with 19 points, including 6-for-6 free throw shooting. Morgan Jones turned in a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.

The Tar Heels had a season-low 18 points at halftime (to FSU's 29) after shooting 22.6 percent from the field in the first two periods. The Seminoles opened the third quarter with a 9-0 run to stretch their lead to 20, the largest of the game, 38-18 at the 7:41 mark. The Tar Heels chipped away after that and the FSU lead was 13, 48-35, at the end of the third period following a steal and buzzer-beating layup by Young.

The Tar Heels outscored FSU 16-13 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to dig out of the hole. Watts delivered one of her four assists on the day to Bailey, who got the bucket and the foul for a three-point play that made it 57-48 with 2:12 to play.
UNC forced a turnover on the FSU inbounds but couldn't capitalize and got no closer than eight points, 59-51 with 55 seconds to play.

UNC did outrebound FSU 47-42, including 20 offensive rebounds.

The Tar Heels are back in action on Sunday, hosting NC State for a 2 p.m. tipoff at Carmichael.
