Volleyball Falls To Seminoles, 3-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Carolina volleyball team fell to Florida State in straight sets on Sunday afternoon (25-17, 25-17. 25-20). The Seminoles out-blocked the Tar Heels 13-1, holding Carolina to a just a .075 attacking clip and 36 kills, both season-lows for the team.
Nia Parker-Robinson led Carolina with 13 kills, her ninth straight game in double-digits. Meghan Neelon contributed 18 kills, while Olivia Diaz had 12 digs, Niki Khoshatefeh had two service aces and Parker-Robinson and Emily Zinger combined for the sole block of the match.
The Seminoles (10-3, 3-1 ACC) dominated the first set, jumping out to an early lead and holding onto it. FSU out-attacked Carolina .300 to .050, with the Tar Heels (11-4, 0-4 ACC) committing eight errors in the set. Shaffmaster and Parker-Robinson each contributed a team-high three kills.
Despite the Tar Heels jumping out to a 7-3 lead in the second set, the Seminoles were able to battle back and take a commanding 18-12 lead midway through, eventually taking the set 25-17. Parker-Robinson led with a match-high five kills, while Neelon racked up eight assists.
There were no lead changes or ties in set three with FSU dominating from start to finish, hitting at a match-best .393 clip compared to Carolina's .133.
The Tar Heels return home with two matchup's next week, Friday at 6 p.m. against Wake Forest before hosting Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
