January 19, 2021 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL - No. 1 North Carolina women's tennis opened up its dual-match season with a 7-0 victory over in-state rival UNCW on Tuesday inside Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Carolina extends its winning streak to 19 matches overall and its home winning streak to 34 in a row that dates back to March of 2018.
The Tar Heels did not drop a set against the Seahawks. Seniors Sara Daavettila and Alexa Graham each picked up a victory in their 2021 singles debuts. Daavettila's win was her 128th of her career, moving her into fourth place in program history.
Freshman Fiona Crawley improved to 3-0 in her first season in Chapel Hill, while Cameron Morra, Elizabeth Scotty and Anika Yarlagadda were also victorious for the Tar Heels.
Carolina is one of seven regional hosts for the annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend that will take place this Friday and Saturday at Cone-Kenfield.
