Carolina Blanks ND At ITA Kick-Off

CHAPEL HILL - No. 1 North Carolina won its 20th-straight dual match with a 4-0 shutout of ACC foe Notre Dame in the opening day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend Friday afternoon inside Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
North Carolina (2-0) earned the opening doubles points with comfortable victories from No. 45 Cameron Morra and Elizabeth Scotty on court two and Alle Sanford and Reilly Tran on court three.
No. 6 Morra was first to post a singles victory - 6-0, 6-0 - on court three. Next door on court two, No. 4 Sara Daavettila won 6-2, 6-1, and No. 79 Scotty earned the clinch point, 6-1, 6-2, on court four.
In the first match of the day, Ole Miss outlasted Old Dominion for a 4-2 victory that took three hours, 19 minutes to complete.
The winner of Saturday's match between UNC and Ole Miss at 1 p.m., advances to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship that will take place Nov. 5-7 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
ODU and Notre Dame face off in a consolation match at 9 a.m.
Carolina is the defending national champion after winning its fourth ITA National Team Indoor Championship title last year in Chicago. The Tar Heels have reached the finals of the event six years running, winning the indoor national championship in 2013, '15, '18 and 2020.
