
Zhou Shoots a 71, Tied for Tenth

HILTON HEAD, SC - Competing as an individual, freshman Jennifer Zhou is in the mix, currently tied for tenth after an even-par 71 in the first round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club.
The North Carolina Tar Heels concluded the first day with a team score of 305 (+21), which places them sixteenth out of seventeen teams with two days left to play.
After a double-bogey on her second hole, Zhou charged back with three birdies to finish 1-under-par on the back-nine. Stringing together a slew of pars and one bogey on the front-nine, she matched her best collegiate round with an even-par 71. Zhou previously recorded a 71 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in the fall season.
Sophomore Ava Bergner was the next lowest scoring Tar Heel with a 2-over-par 73, which currently places her in a tie for 28th.
Nicole Lu and Brynn Walker carded a 77 and are tied for 67th, Kelly Whaley shot a 78 and is tied for 73rd, and to round out the scoring Mariana Ocano recorded an 84 and is tied for 87th.
The University of South Carolina Gamecocks currently lead the tournament at 2-under-par, with a team score of 282.
The second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is set to tee-off at 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday.
