CHAPEL HILL - No. 2 North Carolina women's tennis posted a pair of 7-0 shutout wins over in-state foes UNCG and Appalachian State Tuesday inside Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

With the two victories, Carolina head coach Brian Kalbas improved to 399-96 in his 16 seasons at North Carolina.

Senior Chloe Ouellet-Pizer and freshman Sophia Patel set the tone in both matches by making quick work of their doubles opponents. The Tar Heels experience little resistance in posting 1-0 leads by grabbing the opening point against both the Spartans and Mountaineers.

Four of UNC's singles players - No. 20 Cameron Morra, Jessie Aney, Ouellet-Pizer and Patel - each went 2-0 to help the Tar Heel cause on Tuesday.

No. 6 Makenna Jones and No. 104 Alle Sanford each won in the first match of the day, while No. 7 Alexa Graham and No. 15 Sara Daavettila picked up singles wins in the nightcap.

Carolina steps into conference play at Boston College on Friday at 1 p.m. The Tar Heels remain on the road Sunday at No. 13 Michigan at noon.
