TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The University of North Carolina cross country teams competed against a deep field at the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational on Friday. Led by senior Paige Hofstad and redshirt junior Mitch Resor, the women's team finished 16th with 502 points and the men 17th with 500 points.

The Tar Heels took on some of the best competition in the country in the Friday's Blue events. The women competed against 10 of the top 30 teams in the nation while the men's team competed against nine ranked groups, including three of the top-five nationally ranked programs as voted on by the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.

Hofstad led Carolina for the third time this season, clocking 20:35.00 to place 19th in the women's 6K race. Graduate student Morgan Ilse ran 21:21.60 to finish 87th followed by redshirt junior Mady Clahane and senior Erin Edumundson in 110th and 130th, clocking times of 21:32.9 and 21:45.00, respectively. Freshman Lizzy Harding rounded out the Tar Heels' team score after crossing the finish line in 22:00.70 for 161st place.

In the men's Blue Division, Resor finished 56th with an eight-kilometer time of 24:29.50. Seniors Jeremy Brown and Brandon Tubby were the second and third Tar Heels across, taking 95th and 107th with respective times of 24:49.50 and 24:54.80. Redshirt junior Alex Milligan followed closely in 111th with a time of 24:56.30 and junior Jesse Hunt closed out the scoring, running 25:06.70 for 133rd.
