Hofstad Finishes Fifth At ACC Championships

Women's 6K Results Men's 8K Results

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Senior Paige Hofstad led the North Carolina cross country teams with an All-ACC finish at the 2019 ACC Cross Country Championships on Friday. Hofstad finished the women's 6K race in 20:54.1 for fifth in the individual competition, making her Carolina's first top-five finisher since Annie LeHardy finished fourth in 2014.

With 196 points, the women's team placed eighth in the team standings to earn their best team finish since 2015. The men's team, led by senior Alex Milligan, finished 10th with 298 points.

Adding to the women's score, senior Mady Clahane made the most her return to ACC cross country competition after battling injury during the 2018 season. Clahane clocked 21:40.6 for 33rd place, the best individual finish of her career. Freshman Alex Morris opened her ACC career with a 44th-place time of 21:57.3 and senior Erin Edmundson followed in 51st with a time of 22:04.7. Junior Emmeline Fisher, who transferred from UNCW in 2018, finished 74th in 22:31.0 in her first ever ACC Championships.

In the men's 8K race, Milligan led the Tar Heels with his highest career finish at the ACC meet. The State College, Pa. native crossed the line in 25:05.3 for 27th, just one year after placing 32nd in his ACC Cross Country Championship debut.

The Tar Heels' team score was rounded out by junior Jesse Hunt in 66th (25:38.6), senior Jeremy Brown in 77th (25:57.7), sophomore John Tatter in 80th (26:04.0) and Brandon Tubby in 87th (26:14.3).
