#3 UNC Blanks Princeton, Will Defend ITA Indoor Crown

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - No. 3 North Carolina women's tennis will defend its 2018 ITA National Team Indoor Championship after wrapping up the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-0 shutout of Princeton from the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Sunday's victory places the Tar Heels in the national indoor field of 16 teams that will compete Feb. 8-11 in Seattle.
In doubles, Alle Sanford and Jessie Aney had a strong performance on court two that claimed them the first set of the match, 6-4. Shortly thereafter, the second-ranked duo of Makenna Jones and Cameron Morra clinched the opening point on court one, 6-4.
During singles play, Aney won in straight sets on court six, 6-1, 6-2. Next to her was another victory on court five, courtesy of Sanford, 6-4, 6-1, who put the Tar Heels up 3-0. Jones secured the Carolina victory on court one, 6-3, 6-1.
Before going out west, the Tar Heels will be back in action against No. 2 Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday at 1 p.m.
