North Carolina begins defense of its back-to-back ACC Championship women's tennis titles on Friday in a quarterfinal match with Wake Forest at 11:30 a.m. from Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C. The third-seeded Tar Heels won the 2016 and 2017 tournaments and have eight total in their program history.

Just over a month ago in the only regular season meeting between the two clubs, UNC sophomore Makenna Jones won the clinching match during a 5-2 victory in Winston-Salem, N.C., on March 29.
No. 2 ranked North Carolina is 23-3 overall and finished tied for second in the ACC standings at 12-2.
Wake Forest is 19-12 on the season and ranked No. 34 nationally.
The ACC semifinals are slated for 10 a.m. on Saturday and the championship match on Sunday at 10 a.m. Both semis and finals matches will air live on ACC Network Extra.
