February 24, 2018 | Women's Tennis
CHAPEL HILL - The top-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team puts its unbeaten record on the line this Sunday against No. 7 Vanderbilt inside Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
Parking and admission are free. Free pizza will be given out after the doubles point and we will once again raffle off two Carolina men's basketball tickets for the game vs. Miami on 2/27 at 9 p.m., as well as t-shirts and team posters.
Live video and stats are also available for those not able to make the match in Chapel Hill. Links can be found within this article and on the schedule page on GoHeels.com.
Last time out, Carolina (12-0) opened its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule with a 5-2 win over NC State on Wednesday. The Tar Heels improved to 64-4 against the ACC in regular-season matches over the last six seasons.Â
You'll have a tough time finding two teams that have played a more difficult schedule over the first five weeks of the 2018 season than UNC and Vanderbilt.Â
According to the latest ITA rankings, Carolina has already defeated five of the top-8 clubs in the nation: No. 2 Pepperdine, No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Illinois and No. 8 Texas Tech. All five of those victories were on the path to winning the 2018 ITA National Indoor Team Championship, the third in program history.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt (6-1) has taken down then No. 1 Stanford, then No. 3 Florida, No. 11 Wake Forest and No. 19 Florida State. The lone loss coming to Pepperdine in the semifinals of the ITA Indoors.Â
The Commodores visit No. 24 Northwestern on Friday, before coming to Chapel Hill for Sunday's match with the Tar Heels.Â
UNC hops back into conference play next Friday, March 2 against Boston College at 3 p.m.
