Carolina Remains No. 1, Hosts NC State Wednesday

CHAPEL HILL - The top-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team will open Atlantic Coast Conference play against rival NC State on Wednesday at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
Carolina remains No. 1 in the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for the second week in a row. The Tar Heels improved to a perfect 11-0 record with a 4-1 victory last Sunday over then No. 14 Michigan.
According to this week's ITA rankings, the ITA Indoor National Champion Tar Heels have already defeated No. 2 Pepperdine, No. 3 Ole Miss, No. 5 Illinois and No. 8 Texas Tech in the early portion of the 2018 dual match season.
In the singles rankings, five Tar Heels check in within the top-100: No. 8 Alle Sanford, No. 15 Makenna Jones, No. 28 Sara Daavettila, No. 32 Jessie Aney and No. 93 Alexa Graham.
Carolina's top-2 doubles teams feature No. 9 Aney and Graham, and No. 20 Sanford and Daavettila
The Wolfpack come into Wednesday with a 4-5 overall mark. The club boasts a pair of ranked singles players in No. 94 Claudia Wiktorin and No. 113 Anna Rogers.
Wiktorin and Rogers also make up the 12th ranked doubles team in the land.
Carolina continues its schedule gauntlet with a Sunday home date with No. 7 Vanderbilt at 1 p.m.
