
#6 North Carolina Tops FSU, 5-2

No. 31 Kate Vialle and Jessie Aney handed a 6-3 defeat to Lana Rush and Ariana Rahmanparast on court two in doubles action.
No. 1 Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay came from behind to record a 6-4 win over Daneika Borthwick and Yukako Noi on court one, giving North Carolina (12-2, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) the doubles victory.
Aney, the 84th-ranked freshman, swiftly ousted Florida State's Julia Mikulski, 6-3, 6-0 for a strong singles start. No. 2-ranked Carter followed in suit, beating Borthwick 6-1, 6-1.
Cassandra Vazquez was a late addition to the singles lineup for the Tar Heels at No. 6, and she easily handled Rush, 6-2, 6-2, to make it 4-0 and secure a North Carolina victory to remain a perfect 9-0 at home.
The Seminoles (7-4, 0-2) got on the board with a singles win from Gabby Castandeda, 6-3, 6-1 over Marika Akkerman, and a court five win for Rahmanparast over Chloe Ouellet-Pizer, 6-2, 6-4.
No. 27 Whitney Kay won in straight sets against Noi on court two, 6-3, 6-2, to bring the final match score to 5-2 in favor of the Tar Heels.
North Carolina travels to Charlottesville this Friday to face Virginia at 3 p.m.
