UNC Advances To NCAA Quarters With Win Over Miami

The victory, a program-tying 30th of the season, sets up a rematch of last year's national championship final with 7th seed UCLA . This time the match takes place in the quarterfinal round on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
Carolina began the match outdoors at the Hurd Tennis Center, and ultimately won the opening point over Miami for a 1-0 advantage. Court two's duo of Jamie Loeb and Ashley Dai won 8-3 over Monique Albuquerque and Silvia Fuentes.
Not long after on court one, 35th ranked Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay posted an 8-4 win to secure the early lead over the Hurricanes.
Then the rains came, forcing the match into the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
After a short delay, UNC went to work immediately with senior captain Caroline Price waisting no time in posting a 6-0, 6-2 win over Silvia Fuentes on court three, giving UNC a 2-0 lead over Miami.
The victory increased Price's NCAA-leading dual match win total to 27 for the 20th-ranked singles player in the country.
Court two pitted the last two ACC Freshman of the Year award winners in UNC's sophomore Hayley Carter and Hurricane rookie Sinead Lohan. 16th-ranked Carter got the upper hand in the match early on and never let up in a 6-3, 7-5 win over No. 37 Lohan.
Miami cut its deficit to 3-1 as Lina Lileikite picked up a 7-5, 6-2 win over Kay on court four.
But moments later, #7 Loeb won a thrilling three-set match over No. 11 Stephanie Wagner - 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, sending UNC into the quarterfinals for the third-consecutive year.
