UNC Falls In Quarters To Bruins

This was a rematch of the NCAA Championship match last spring, in which UCLA won 4-3.
Caroline Price and Kate Vialle dominated in their doubles match, quick to win 8-0 over Chanelle Van Nguyen and Terri Fleming.
#35 duo Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay battled in their match, ultimately falling to #9 Robin Anderson and Jennifer Brady 8-5.
It came down to Jamie Loeb and Ashley Dai's match with #3 Catherine Harrison and Kyle McPhillips to determine the doubles point. After keeping it close for much of the match, Loeb/Dai ultimately fell 8-4, giving UCLA the 1-0 advantage.
At that point, Carolina faced an uphill battle it had only faced twice before this season: the first time against Duke in the final match of the regular season, where they ultimately won, and against Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Championship where the Cavaliers came out on top.
#20 Price was the first to finish in singles, dropping her match 6-4, 6-1 to #47 Brady and making it 2-0 UCLA.
#102 Kay pulled a huge upset over #33 Harrison 6-3, 6-4 to give Carolina its first point of the match, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
#16 Carter fell in her match to #21 Channele Van Nguyen 0-6, 2-6 to put UCLA within one point of heading to the semifinals.
After dropping her first set to #1 Anderson 3-6, #7 Loeb took a lead in the second set at 6-5 before Anderson answered by winning in a tiebreaker to garner the straigh-set victory, 6-3, 7-6. With that win, UCLA punched their ticket to the Final Four with a 4-1 win.
