UNC Sweeps Pitt 7-0, Goes To 21-0

CHAPEL HILL--The No. 2-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team (21-0, 9-0 ACC) easily handled the Pitt Panthers (2-12, 0-9 ACC), defeating them 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
With Hayley Carter and Whitney Kay sitting out the match for rest, #34 Ashley Dai/Kate Vialle moved into the two-slot and beat Katherine Castro/Lolade Ogungbasen 8-2.
#13 Caroline Price/Jamie Loeb clinched the doubles point with an 8-3 win over Audrey Ann Blakely/Callie Frey.
In singles, Marika Akkerman clinched the second point for the Tar Heels with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Katherine Castro.
Cassandra Vazquez followed that up with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Molly Wickman.
Kate Vialle won her match to clinch the win for the Tar Heels with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Amber Washington.
#18 Caroline Price easily handled Audrey Ann Blakely in the second set, 6-1, after a close 6-4 win in the first.
#78 Ashley Dai finished fifth with a win over Callie Frey 6-2, 6-1 to make it 6-0 Heels.
#9 Jamie Loeb finished the sweep of the Panthers with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Lolade Ogungbesan.
The Tar Heels will be back in action on Thursday, April 2 against Florida State in Tallahassee at 3:00 pm.
