
No. 12 Tar Heels Win 6-1 At Virginia Tech

North Carolina (13-3, 5-1 ACC) won the doubles point after getting wins at No. 3 by Ashley Dai and Tessa Lyons, 8-1, and at No. 1 by ninth-ranked Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter to take a 1-0 lead over the Hokies.
Carolina would then rattle off five-straight singles victories, before Virginia Tech avoided the shutout with a late win at No. 5 singles.
At No. 3, Caroline Price was the first to post a singles win for the Tar Heels, 6-2, 6-0, over Isel Martinez-Marcos.
Sixth-ranked Carter was next to win, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 over Kelly Williford to improve her record on the year to 32-5 overall and a perfect 6-0 in ACC action.
Kate Vialle clinched the match at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Raluca Mita. Ashley Dai made it 5-0 with a 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 5 over Carol Kahoun.
Top ranked Jamie Loeb ran her singles record to 34-2 on the year with a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 win at No. 1 over Ilinca Stoica. The reigning ACC Player of the Week is now 6-0 in the conference.
Carolina steps out of conference on Wednesday to play Appalachian State at 10 a.m., and College of Charleston at 5 p.m., in Charleston, S.C.
