
Field Events, Relays Highlight Day 2 Of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The Carolina track and field team closed out Day 2 of the 67th Pepsi Florida Relays with outstanding performances in the field and in several relays as the men's sprint medley set a new school record. The two-day meet was held at the University of Florida's Percy Beard Track and featured some of the top track and field programs in the country.
Sophomore Chris DiLorenzo lead Carolina on Saturday by taking second in the men's shot put with a distance of 57-0, which places him in the top-25 in the NCAA so far this season. Senior Austin Davis jumped 51-2 3/4 in the men's triple jump to take third, and senior Parker Smith took fourth in the pole vault with a height of 16-11 1/2. Sophomore Dylan Moore finished eighth in the high jump at 6-10 3/4.
The men's 1,600 sprint medley relay of seniors Charles Cox and Kelvin Hardesty, sophomore Clayton Parros and freshman Isaac Presson claimed first in 3:18.25 and broke the school record of 3:20.24 set in 1987. The women's 4x800 (8:53.92) also took first.
The women's 1,600 sprint medley took second (3:48.18), and the men's 4x110 shuttle hurdle team finished fourth (58.96).
Carolina will compete next weekend at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., Friday and Saturday. The meet, featuring more than 50 teams, will be held at Duke's Wallace Wade Stadium. Stay tuned to TarHeelBlue.com for more information.
