
Tar Heels Shine On Kitty Harrison Day One

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina players won four of five singles matches against opponents from Texas A&M to highlight action on day one of the eighth annual Kitty Harrison Invitational Friday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Zoe De Bruycker, Caroline Price, Haley Hemm and Tessa Lyons were winners for the Tar Heels, who also took four of five doubles matches from Texas A&M and Furman.
Junior All-America De Bruycker defeated Texas A&M's Sun Wen in a third-set tiebreak, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (6), to lead a strong Tar Heel performance against the Aggies. Price and Lyons were straight set winners, while Hemm also needed a third-set tiebreak before disposing of Lauren Santacroce.
In doubles, Carolina won a pair of doubles matches against Furman before splitting a pair against Texas A&M. Lyons and Jennifer Stone also won a match against a combined Aggie and Paladin tandem.
Play continues tomorrow with doubles at 10 a.m. followed by singles starting at 11:15.
