Connecticut Head Coach Geno Auriemma
On his team's overall performance playing a tough game on the road: "This might have been the best game we've played since the beginning of the season. Those are the things we talk about: winning on the road, you have to rebound the ball, you have to make sure you don't put [the opposing team on the free throw line], and you really have got to get the shot you want to get on offense. And I thought from the opening tip we did exactly that."
On Tiffany Hayes' and Maya Moore's performance: "Obviously Tiffany and Maya, they were spectacular. It's just hard to put into words what those two did tonight. But I think everyone had a hand in it. Every single player that played significant minutes had a huge impact on the game tonight."
On Tiffany Hayes playing despite lingering injury: "She said she felt fine. Sometimes these things are real serious, sometimes they're mild, you just don't know until the next day."
North Carolina Head Coach Sylvia Hatchell
"I'm disappointed we didn't give them a better game. I thought we were well-prepared. I thought early they made a lot of shots. We took some bad shots, we missed a lot of shots and they were able to get transition buckets. I thought first half that was the biggest difference is that they were getting easy buckets off of transition and they were our bad shots or missed shots. And they're a great shooting team.
"When it was 12 at halftime I thought OK, when we'd gone inside with it ... at halftime Waltiea (Rolle) and Chay (Shegog) were like 6 for 8 or something together and so we came out in the second half and tried to go inside with it and we got two good looks the first two positions and just didn't get it to go in.
"They're a great team. I'm just disappointed we didn't give them a better game. We've got to regroup and learn from this and move on."
"I really thought we would give them a much better game. I thought we matched up with them a lot better this year than we have the last couple years and I think if we could've made some shots early on that would have helped us a lot. Tiffany (Hayes) really had a great game. We know she's a great player, but we weren't expecting her to do as much as she did. We knew Maya (Moore) would be Maya, but Tiffany had a great game. "
