North Carolina Head Coach Elmar Bolowich: "Very solid from the back four, Eddie Ababio included, Matt Rose, and you can't forget the outside backs in there, Drew (McKinney) and Scott (Goodwin), both those guys have been steady all season long. They know that we are confident in our back line and defending and it would be very difficult for our opponents to get easy looks at our goal.
And then of course, in the front six we wanted to do a bit more damage in terms of creating more opportunities and I've got to give credit to Georgetown as well they defended extremely well, they defended as a team very well, they were very tight."
On Stephen McCarthy's play:
"Well he was gassed out. He hadn't played for 4 weeks because of his fracture in his cheekbone, he had to cover a lot of ground in the first half and in the second half, and you could see when he was fatiguing that Georgetown gained that momentum down the middle and (Dustin) McCarty was used to playing that position. We got some energy from (Jordan) Gafa, and Alex Walters from the mid-field as well."
Jalil Anibaba on the pressure that Georgetown presented:
"There is something about our defense that makes me reflect back to the fact that, I feel that we will never give up a goal. We are so solid we've got Scott behind us. And it's not arrogance, I feel it's a little bit of confidence. We always kind of find our way to get to the last ball or get behind the ball on the back-post or whatnot, so we just know that it's part of the game and we stay the course."
On his leadership role:
"It's natural. I wouldn't say it's a bigger role, it's just part of my job, just keeping guys organized, and making sure everything stays normal during the game, I didn't see anything different."
Scott Goodwin on the shutout:
"I've got to give the credit to the guys in front of me, you know, they've just been playing very well, it's a very tight-knit group of us, the five in the back and they really make my job easy keeping everything out wide and not really giving me any shots that are too tough to handle so I've really got to give the credit them in front of me they're really working hard and they make my job easy when they do that."
On the penalty save
"You just see it and you've got to go for it. It's just a reaction. I saw as he was coming to me he kinda looked up so I gave him a little jump to one side so I kinda baited him, but when it comes down to it you have to go with your instincts every time and if you don't falter from that the odds are with you to guess the right way once or twice."
Alex Walters on his shot off the crossbar and eventual penalty game winner
"I got the ball midfield and it was a great ball and I just deeked the guy right in front of me because he thought I was going to shoot it right away and he passed me and I had a wide open shot to the net. I wasn't really aiming left or right I just shot it and hopefully it would get over the keeper."
"Defense backline was holding it strong all game long, they've been doing it all season, and I knew we weren't going to give up a goal."
"I was scheduled to be number six but with Michael Farfan out everyone else stepped up and scored before me so it was just lucky for me to get that position to get to be number 5.
Georgetown Head Coach Brian Wiese
"It's very hard, it's the end of the season, so when you lose, your first thoughts go to the guys who are leaving. We have a lot of them. We have 11 seniors in the class, and you get them for four years so you're going to miss them and you're sorry for them to not have the right end. But at the end of the day they played hard and they played long and they left everything on the field and I don't have any complaints about the performance of the boys."
