No. 18 Tar Heels Get Past No. 28 Kentucky, 6-1

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- No. 18 North Carolina swept three doubles matches and won five of six singles matches to post a 6-1 victory over No. 28 Kentucky Saturday afternoon at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center. Sophomore Shinann Featherston teamed with senior Katrina Tsang for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the first point of the match before rolling past Elle Coldiron at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Seniors Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand opened the dual match with an 8-1 win over Caroline Lilley and Christine Johnson at No. 1 doubles. After Tsang and Featherston sealed the point, sophomores Jocelyn Ffriend and Haley Hemm completed the sweep with an 8-2 win at the No. 3 position.
Freshman Zoe De Bruycker gave Carolina (2-0) a 3-0 advantage with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lauren Meier at No. 4 singles, setting up junior Jelena Durisic to clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Christine Johnson at No. 3.
Grabinski added a 6-3, 7-5 win over Minnette Pienaar at No. 5 to push the score to 5-0 before Kentucky (0-2) got on the board with a win at the No. 1 position. Marand closed out the match with a come-from-behind 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), (10-4) victory over Lilley at No. 2.
