Tar Heels Perform Well At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Addie Bracy was one of the few Tar Heels in action on Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. but represented the Tar Heels well as she earned a regional mark in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:28.86 good for fifth place. The women's 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams were also in action on Thursday.
The group of Vanneisha Ivy, Malai Walker, Cierra McGee and Tyler Ford qualified in the 4x100-meter relay as they ran a regional-qualifying time of 45.24 to move on to the Championship of America on Friday at 1:10 p.m.
The 4x400-meter relay squad of LaToya James, Elizabeth Mott, Callie Pottinger and Tasha Stanley also moved on to Friday's finale as the group ran a 3:38.59 to reach a regional mark as well.
The long jumping duo of Jacinda Evans and Tyler Ford finished back-to-back in the event as the pair finished 13th and 14th with identical top jumps of 18-9 3/4.
Action resumes at 9 a.m. on Friday, the fourth day of the Penn Relays.
