No. 10 Tar Heels Thump Gonzaga

HONOLULU --- After having its match with Purdue rained out earlier in the day, the No. 10 North Carolina women's tennis team handled Gonzaga with ease Thursday night, cruising to a 7-0 win. The Tar Heels did not drop a set for the second straight match and lost only six games in three doubles matches.
The No. 29-ranked duo of Sara Anundsen and Katrina Tsang scored an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Austin Smith and Meg Fanjoy and Laura Reichert and Alexandra Jurewitz also posted easy victories in doubles play.
Senior Caitlin Collins saw action at No. 1 singles for the Tar Heels (14-5) Thursday and rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Emily Anderson. No. 54 Smith was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Aglaya Kokurina at No. 2, while No. 69 Marand won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.
At the Nos. 4-6 positions, several Tar Heels played in their first singles in several weeks, with all three players winning in impressive fashion. Reichert was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 4, Jurewitz was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 5 and Linzee Mabrey, in her first singles action of the spring, triumphed 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6.
Upon completion of their Hawai'i trip, the Tar Heels will travel to College Park to face Maryland on March 23.
