CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - After coming off a 5-2 home win over No. 19 Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill women's tennis team captured another home win against seventh-ranked Northwestern. The ninth-ranked Tar Heels upset the Wildcats 5-2 and now move to 9-1 on the season. The Tar Heels are a perfect 5-0 at home.
"They're working hard in practice and playing with a lot of intensity and focus," Head Coach Brian Kalbas said of his team. "They're also enjoying the team camaraderie. For them to show that focus but also the enjoyment when the pressure is on says a lot about this team."
North Carolina won the doubles point with huge victories at the No. 1 and 2 seeds. The Tar Heel pair of Aniela Mojzis and Kendall Cline, ranked No. 41 nationally, upset the top-ranked Northwestern team of Cristelle Grier and Jessica Rush 8-6. Kendrick Bunn and Caitlin Collins took another win at the No. 2 seed, beating Jamie Peisel and Alexis Prousis 8-3. Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long lost a tight match to Northwestern's Andrea Yung and Ruth Barnes 9-8(6).
