
Tar Heels Fall To No. 1 Stanford in Consolation Round

Madison, Wisc. ----- The fifth-ranked University of North Carolina women's tennis team dropped its second consecutive match at the National Indoor Championships, falling to No. 1 Stanford, 6-1, on Saturday.
The Tar Heels (5-2) scored their only point at No. 2 singles when Kate Pinchbeck scored a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Carolina lost the doubles point, falling at all three doubles spots to the Cardinal.
Pinchbeck gave Carolina hope after winning the first singles point of the match, but Stanford rallied to win the remaining five matches.
Carolina's next match is Saturday, February 15 at William & Mary.
