
Carolina Sits 11th After First Day Of Midlands

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The University of North Carolina wrestling team completed the first day of Midlands in 11th place. The Tar Heels scored a total of 22 points. Iowa leads after day one with 39 points, followed by Penn State (35), Sunkist (34), Michigan (27.5), Ohio State (27) and Illinois (27).
Sophomore Chris Rodrigues (Marietta, Ga.) advanced to the semifinals with a pinfall over Air Force's Heath McKin in 1:18. Senior Jimmy O'Connor won his first two matches before falling in the third round at 167 pounds to Rider's Nick Harrington, 4-2.
The Midlands semifinals and finals will begin at 7 p.m. CST tonight.
