TarHeelBlue: Were you nervous when you pinch hit for Madiera?
Chris Maples: "Not really, because I inherited a 2-0 count, so I knew he had to come at me with fastballs. I just kept fighting off tough pitches, and he threw one that I could hit. I made solid contact, and it went into the hole."
TarHeelBlue: What pitch did you hit for your double?
Chris Maples: "It was a fastball. I was just trying to hit it where it was pitched.
TarHeelBlue: How does this rate on a scale of 1 to 10 of your biggest hits?
Chris Maples: "Oh, it's definitely a ten. But you've also give credit to the pitcher, he was throwing a ball that was running a lot. He's (Chris Ginn) a tough guy to hit."
TarHeelBlue: Did you think it was going to fall in when you hit it?
Chris Maples: "Yea, I got great contact and saw immediately that it wouldn't get caught."
TarHeelBlue: What does this win mean do for the team?
Chris Maples: "This was a great win. It we lose this game, it's two losses in a row. We've had a little trouble with the top teams this year, but we got it done tonight.
"I had the same opportunity to drive in a winning run last night, but I got under it a little bit. I guess the Gods helped me tonight."
TarHeelBlue: Would you comment on the crowds the last two nights?
Coach Roberts: "Other than the actual outcome of the games, the crowd's been the most impressive part of the last two nights, the number of people we've had here. You have to attribute some of it to Florida State, because they've brought some people with them, but our fans have been amazing. These games have been great for college baseball.
"I hope every body has had fun the last two nights. I'm sure they have, they've seen two great games.
"It's amazing how early they came tonight. I was throwing batting practice and went 'gosh, there's a lot of people in here.' We've got a beautiful place here, it's a great atmosphere."
TarHeelBlue: How was the attitude of the team after last night's tough loss?
Chris Maples: "You know, I was impressed with the way our guys came in the locker room today. They didn't worry about it too much, I told them to just forget it.
"We've learned this year that you've got to put these things behind you, win or lose. You've got another one coming. You can't afford to dwell on it, win or lose."
TarHeelBlue: How's the overall play of team right now?
Chris Maples: "I thought we played well tonight. Chad Prosser was outstanding. Russ Adams made a couple of big plays.
"We got great pitching from Chris Elmore, our pitching's been really good."
